Hi
I have a CF350 coachbuilt, and experience the same symptons you have.

the brakes are drum brakes so require more effort to stop the vehicle.

The swaying about is the vehicle being top heavy, so will rock from side to side, which is normal, you just need to get used to your new vehicle and how it moves about unlike modern vehicles.

You have joined the best site there is for bedfords, loads of people on here and very helpful if you require help fixing your van, no doubt you'll be posting more in the forums as well.

Welcome to our little world! Bleeding the brakes might be a good start, but its also worth looking at the brake shoes to see if they have got contaminated by a leak- that was one of the first problems I had. Since than I have replaced all wheel cylinders as if all of them are a similar age, theyre likely to go soon after each other as mine did.

You will sway somewhat- its worth looking at airride suspension- it makes a big difference. I presume you experienced the entertainment of being overtaken bny some big rigs!

Use the search facility (top left of the screen) and youll find the answers you need. Anything else, just ask!

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all..

suspension and brakes.

Hi hong kong phooey,

My Bedford felt just like that the night I drove it home last Oct. 2009.
Since then I have stiffened up the rear suspension by adding coil springs to the leaf spring rear end set up, gain about an inch in height.
The brake adjusters had not been moved in years, so once I had freed them off and checked shoes and wheel cylinders were free it was much better.
As for the steering you may find the coupling just above the floor in cab is partly seized, get the WD40 on that and free it off

Doug.
