Various questions needing answers

Hiya, I own a 2.3petrol automatic

Question 1, I bought an oil filter of ebay, listing said it was for a cf, and I even sent a message stating year and engine size of my van to ensure I was getting the correct one. what arrived was a 'champion' oil filter number on front of box is 'C103'.
On the reverse of the box it gives a list of makes of cars it will fit, but no mention of the bedford cf, only close ones are the opel corsa 1.0, 1.2s, kadettb/c/d manta.
Vauxhall Astra 9/85 & cavalier 9/85

Pic below

reason i'm asking is, that i went to my motor factors for an air filter, when i went back later to collect it, there was an oil filter waiting for me, there was an accent thing he thought I said oil filter and not air filter lol.
Luckily he had an airfilter on the shelf, cost me £5, so as i was generous I bought the oil filter as well £3.50. when i got home i matched the new fram oil filter to the champion I bought on ebay and the outer casings are different, the Fram being slightly longer but the female threads and daimeter appear to be the same.

Also bought an air filter on ebay, allegedly for a cf, when it came to fitting it, it was an inch to long.
Got it cross referenced, and its for a saab 900 turbo upto 1989, so if any one wants it you can have it, as long as you cover the postage.

Fram PH966B is correct for the 2.3 & cross-references to Champion C103.

Fram air filter is CA685PL except for early CFs with filter case hung off a strap attached to the bulkhead.

cheers Phil. The air filter i was already sorted with, thats fitted.

Glad to know I can use both filters, out of interest, I was reading a thread in the archives, and it mentioned that you have a preferential filter that you use as it cools the oil better, which one do you use.

Fram PH977A - about 4 times the capacity. Cross references to Crosland 616 & others; originally for Perkins V8 I think. Engine earth cable sometimes needs slackening to turn the terminal round at the engine to clear the filter.

Air Filter

I bought an air filter labelled Bedford cf, but it turned out to be one inch too long. So out came the stanley knife!
